Visual Identity, Ticket Design

2021
From March to May 2021, the Department of Design Student Association at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology hosted a film screening series titled Department of Design Workspace Cinema. The program featured a carefully selected lineup of films focused on the theme of dreams, exploring the surreal, the subconscious, and the imagined.

Screenings took place at night in the department’s brick-paved outdoor plaza. The setting naturally created a quiet sense of community, with night cats gathered beneath the eaves, sharing the calm of the evening. This scene inspired the ticket design, which showed two night-dwelling cats beneath a rooftop-shaped cutout. The concept drew from a line in Satoshi Kon’s Paprika about “a place where the people of the night gather,” evoking the feeling of a secret, dreamlike gathering.

A deep navy and gold color palette was chosen to convey mystery and fantasy, reflecting the visual language of dreams and soft nocturnal light. The overall design sought to capture the event’s quiet intimacy through a refined and immersive visual identity.
